'American Car World' magazine under new ownership
Shut up and Drive Publishing has just announced the acquisition of American Car World magazine from Clive Houseman Publishing (CHP) as of the 4th March 2010. Shut up and Drive Publishing is made up of Tony Crowther, Vanessa Kerwin-Royle and Andy Craig. All are ex-Classic American staff with twelve years combined experience in the American car magazine sector.
“I formed this company with the express intention of buying American Car World” said Tony Crowther, Creative Director of Shut up and Drive. “I’ve thought for years about owning my own magazine and putting together a top quality team to work with me. It’s been my opinion for a while now that magazines weren’t being run in the right way - with the needs of the shareholders rather than the readers as the priority. We love being part of the American car community and aren’t quite ready to let our knowledge and experience go to waste, so we’re going for it.”
This is great news for British American Car fans: A magazine owned and produced by enthusiasts, for enthusiasts. With American Car World as their sole focus, and with no other titles to distract them, the new team is dedicated only to bringing the very best of the American car scene to its readers.
Also, there are going to be more features, more reader offers, more cars for sale... and that’s just the start. But as well as looking at various ways to improve the magazine, they want to hear from their readers too – which is why they’re going to be a regular sight at shows and race meetings across the UK. This way both clubs and individuals can approach the team personally with any ideas or feedback, starting with Wheels Day at Rushmoor Arena, Aldershot on 2nd April 2010.
