American Super Stock championship drag racing at York Raceway 2012
Dates for the 2012 American Super Stock have been announced. They will need to be confirmed at the Pennine Drag Racing Club AGM on 25th February, but it's unlikely to change. However, the big change for this year is that there will be a whopping TEN rounds. However, drivers don't need to contend all rounds. A maximum of eight rounds will be included in a driver's championship points; in other words, if you do all ten rounds, your worst two rounds won't be counted in, does that make sense?
Last year the season kicked off late and it was all over by the end of August, so this is all addressed with this new way for 2012, and you can still fit a holiday in and take a little time out -when you choose. So it's better all the way!
Once again, all rounds will be contested at York Raceway.
October will be a 'reserve round' in case of a rain-off.

Paperwork
You can save time by getting your forms filled in advance of race day, look below for 'The paper chase' and get it sorted out! Please let us know what you're plans are for racing in American Super Stock, or any other news and we'll include it on the site.
Where is York Raceway?
All rounds of American Super Stock are held at York Raceway, near Melbourne, to the south east of York. It is well-signed when there's an event, from the north and from junction 37 off of the M62 interstate turnpike. Satnav enthusiasts can through caution to the wind and key in YO42 4SS, this is the correct postcode for the house opposite the entrance (but we're not responsible for where your satnav takes you!). Please drive carefully and responsibly and considerately.
Times and results
York Raceway provides detailled results from previous events, including reaction times, 60ft, eighth and quarter times and speeds; thanks to the technical wisdom of Captian Carl the Keeper of Time. These results can be found with a click right here.

The paper chase
To beat the paper chase before you win the drag race, why not save yourself some time and download and complete your paperwork now?
Since American Super Stock is a race series (as opposed to RWYB), there’s some forms to fill in. To race, you need to be a member of a recognised club, PRDC (Pennine Drag Racing Club), York Raceway’s drivers’ club. PDRC recognises Shakespeare County Raceway’s or Santa Pod’s equivalent. So you need to complete the PDRC membership form.
To race, you also need a race licence. An MSA licence will do, or an IOPD licence, which you can download the application form here.
And you need to complete the Entry Form (which now includes the Participant's Contract), your details will subsequently be added to PDRC's database, so there’s now no need to re-do a form for each event, providing there’s no change to your details. In future, for the next round, just get scrutineered, simply re-sign at the PDRC office and you are gone in 30 seconds (as opposed to the usual 60 seconds).
Finally, there is the Temporary (RWYB) Permit, this enables you to run some RWYB passes, in case you need a bit of a shakedown or some track time outside of competition. There’s no additional cost for this, so you may as well do it!

Disclaimers
Information is provided in good faith and to assist. No liability whatsoever is expressed or implied for incorrect or misleading information, or the physical, financial or any other aspects of anything. Motorsport is dangerous and smelly etc. Check details with York Raceway.
"Motorsport can be dangerous and noisy, you attend at your own risk, we would also recommend spectators should use ear protection for some events. Dates or event content may be subject to change without prior notice."
It is also exciting, frustrating, annoying, expensive (although it doesn't have to be, it can be less costly than a golf habit), but it is usually terrific fun and well run by the PDRC crew and York Raceway's promoters.
