Colin Gardner
Plymouth Road Runner 440ci
Colin's Road Runner is running a Billadeau-built 440 and Colin's dialling in 13.4 and crossing the line at about 104mph.
He bought car off Dave Madders in 2004, after watching racing at York. As Colin puts it, "I thought 'I've gotta have one of them!' My intention was only to race once and then sell the car, but I think everyone will agree drag racing is so addictive. Dave Billadeau did a good job on refreshing the 440, he's a top man for that. Alders did the box for me, and everything is holding up well after many runs knocking hell out the car -it's such fun though."
However, Colin was quoted £2,000 for a pint job, "I couldn't aford it at the time so spent a hundred quid on paint and had a bash myself. Not Scott Diddledoo quality, but it is a race car not a museum piece. I actualy pianted the car outside my dads bungalow on a sunny day, mad I know, but so be it!" Colin hopes to keep racing in Super Stock at York forever, "with such friendly people and such good times," he adds.
