Ken White

'96 Ford Mustang

From Harlow in Essex, Ken White, 25 is a coach driver and trainee driving instructor. He started in NSCC this year and decided, as he put it, "to get my money's worth at York by running A/SS and even though I'm never going to be good in bracket racing in this car (manual doh!) I enjoy it a lot. There's something about beating a 11 second car with a 14 and then being beaten by a 18 second car all in one day that's emotional!" As you can see from his race number, Ken is a Hot Rod Gazettist and has been grabbing some American Super Stock action too. His Mustang features a 32-valve 4.6 litre quad cam motor, with C&L intake and K&N filter. Trans is a 5-speed manual, with a B&M short shifter.

Everything else is standard but Ken tells us: "Future plans are 4.10 gears, uprated rear arms, EDIS diff,  drag spec shocks and springs all round, 315-35-17 rear wheels for road use and 275-50-15s drag radials for drag use (or wider if possible) and the big mod is a Hellion twin turbo kit complete with tubular front end and coilovers, new rods and pistons to suit the boost and power as the rods are only good too 450bhp and, one day, I'm aiming for 1000+ from a 4.6, should be fun! I plan on keeping the car full trim with some hidden weight lose, but not tubbed or running more than a 10.5" tyre. Its going to take many years to build up but I hope to get there one day. At the moment the cars PB is 14.03@100.7 at the Pod and 14.2 at York, I want to get the car into mid to low 13s by end of next year's NSCC and A/SS season."

Let's hope one day Ken achieves all those future plans.
