Dave Rushforth

Ford Mustang II

Deep Staging Dave’s 1975 Mustang II was imported from new, converted to right hand drive and first registered on 1st August 1975 and Dave has owned the car since 1990.

The 302ci’s modifications include 9.0:1 Comp pistons, Comp Cams XE262 cam, Edelbrock Performer manifold, Holley 600cfm vacuum secondaries carb, ARP rod bolts, Ford Motorsport oil pump drive shaft and Accel Blueprint distributor.

The legend that has become ‘Deep Staging Dave’ first raced it in 1997, when he ran in Street Eliminator, going on to win his first championship. And this car has always proved to be consistent and reliable. It is always driven to and from the track; it’s raced in street trim and runs mid 14s.

Like many of us, Dave continues his personal battle against poverty, which means that his new motor is still not built, "So I've decided to give the old 302 one last chance! Hopefully I can get it into the 13s, but we'll see! I've got some 2'' dropped spindles to fit and some rather nice new wheels, I've wanted some Centerlines since they were new, but could never afford 'em." But Dave came across a deal that was just too good to pass up, "Although I still could not afford 'em I bought them anyway! They should make the old Mustang look really good if not any faster!" Dave's lookinging forward to getting back racing, "I just hope I can remember how it's done!"  Those Centrelines may not make you any faster Dave, but we're pretty sure they’ll improve consistency!
